RELG 301

Final Projects/Papers

There are no Exams this Semester, but there will be a Mid-Term Project/Paper and a Final Paper or Project

Final Projects/Paper

Due 9am, Monday, May 5

Choose one of the following three Projects/Papers.
The Projects should be 2,000-4,000 words.
Go here for the grading rubric.
The Project/Paper will be due 9am Monday, May 5

Final Project 1

Choose one of the Major Prophets, and write an essay on his life and ministry.
You should include an account of the historical and political setting, the main themes of his message, and how his writings were used by the writers of the New Testament (if applicable)

Final Project 2

Discuss how the message of the prophets developed throughout the history of Israel/Judah. What were the main themes of the message, what means were used to proclaim the message (eg. acted prophecy, preaching), how did the leaders and people of Israel/Judah respond to the message

Final Project 3

You are the Assistant Pastor at a small country Church. The Senior Pastor asks you to plan a Vacation Bible School, to run for five days (Monday-Friday) ending with a Saturday afternoon presentation for the parents of the children who attend.
The Senior Pastor asks you to plan a program featuring the Prophets, but with some reference to Jesus and the New Testament
The Women's Group is taking care of food, snacks, and drinks, so you only have to co-ordinate with them about food and drinks.
Several teenagers and adults have offered to assist, but you will need to tell them what you need them to do.
The Church has a guitarist and a pianist, a song leader and a sound/video technician. They are all available and willing to help, but you will need to tell them what you need. (No "small country church" ever has such resources. In real life you can be happy if you have one musician with a limited repertoire, and a slide projector which you run yourself)
It is expected that about twenty children, ages 5 to 10 will attend. You may decide whether or not you split them into age groups, or keep them as one large group, or have some time in small groups and some time as one large group.
Write your plans for the five days of VBS, with morning and afternoon sessions of about two hours each - about one hour of learning, split into two or more sessions, with activities, potty breaks, snacks interspersed; and the Saturday afternoon presentation also of about one hour.
