Greek I - Beginning Greek

Module 1

Module Learning Objectives

On completion of this Module, students should be able to :

  1. Read and Write the letters of the Greek Alphabet
  2. Read Greek names
  3. Describe the main periods in the development of the Greek Language

 

Study Report 1 - due by 9 am of the Monday following the Module

  • Download the .doc file for Study Report 1
    Fill in and save each daily section as you study during the week.
    Submit the completed file to the relevant Assignment Box in Canvas by 9 am the following Monday.
    If you have problems working with .doc files, contact the Instructor to arrange for an alternate format

Introductions, and Discussion Board 1

  1. Introduce yourself to your classmates, by posting an introductory message to the Discussion Board on Canvas by 9am of the second day of the Module.
    Things to include might be the State and/or country in which you live, your Major, your interests and hobbies, and what you want to get out of this course.
    Get to know your classmates by reading their messages.
    Post replies to each of your classmates who has posted a thread by 9 am Friday of the Module.
  2. Discussion Board 1 - post your Thread by 9am, Friday of the Module; and post replies to two of your classmates' threads by 9am of the Monday following the Module.
    Thread : Post a mnemonic to help you remember one or more of the Greek letter sequences ζ - η - θ - ι or μ - ν - ξ - ο - π or φ - χ - ψ - ω
    A mnemonic is just anything to help you remember something - it can be nonsensical, but it should be easy to remember. eg. "Fat Cowboys Get Drunk At Every Bar" to remember the order of sharps in major keys in music.
    Post Replies to at least two of your classmates' threads by 9am of the Monday following the Module.

Test 1 - due by 12 noon of the Monday following the Module

Go to the Test Section of the course on Canvas, and take the test at least once before 12 noon of the Monday following the Module period.
The test will be open-book.
The test will cover all the material for this Module, including the vocabularies.
You will have 1 hour to complete the test.
You may take the test as many times as you like before the cut-off time.
Questions will vary each time you take the test.
Your highest score will count towards your course grade.
